Amygdala - Coder Room

A key space in Amygdala, where workers create the virtual incarcerations of prisoners in the film. The brief for this space was to be brutalist, grand, an open floor plan for a mass amount of workers where their leader could appear on a giant screen. The idea we came up with was a giant concrete screen that would shift out of the wall when the coders are to be addressed. High above the space was a highlight window that wouldn’t allow the workers to look out of the space so they would not be distracted from their tasks - this gave a sense of imprisonment to the workers themselves.

I was also tasked with designing the desks for the Coder's. We developed the idea that the desk would be composed of 3 x modules that would follow a track along a circular path. The intent being that the Coder's could reconfigure their space to gain access to full height holograms, and also create a completely circular space for internal meetings with other employee's.
